3D SPRAY PILOT

Coating/functionalisation of 3D cellulose objects for packaging and speciality applications

  • Develop coated 3D cellulose products and objects for packaging and speciality markets
  • Compare the performance of coating products or processes applied to 3D cellulose products and objects
  • Perform chromatogeny on 3D cellulose products and objects
  • Produce series of demonstrators

The little story of the pilot

The days of reel-to-reel pilots are over! Indeed, with the advent of moulded cellulose and thermo-formable board products, cellulose has definitively taken over the 3rd dimension.
So how can we convey barrier properties and features to these 3D shapes since almost all of the processes were developed and optimised for treating flat materials in the form of rolls?
Drawing on its expertise in surface treatment, the CTP has invested in a pilot unit capable of coating 3D objects/products. This pilot is composed of a spray head mounted on a 6-axis robot. Many possibilities exist: coating with polymers, aqueous formulations, MFCs, and - the cherry on the cake - it is even possible to implement chromatogeny treatment processes.
This equipment and the CTP personnel will support you as you seek to conquer the 3rd dimension.
