Printed electronics, laboratory printing

Create your prototypes using the laboratory resources at the CTP

  • Define the required technical solutions
  • Print substrates using functional inks (conductive, resistive, dielectric, electroluminescent, etc.) or barrier ink
  • Print RFID antennae using conventional printing resources
  • Create electroluminescent surfaces

Generate Value...

Printed electronics and functional printing are offering new means of diversification for paper and board manufacturers, printers and converters. These new printing and functionalisation technologies are opening doors to new markets with high added value, where competition on paper and board products remains low.
Since 2008, the CTP has developed significant expertise to support companies in the development of laboratory prototypes.
Thanks to the development projects it has completed and the investments made in the field (EIPIT* project), today the CTP has an array of laboratory investigation resources for testing all types of printing substrates (cellulose, plastic, textile) with all the processes that can be used in this new area.

Context and performance

Are you a papermaker, a printing substrates manufacturer, a publisher, a printer/converter, or a client looking to develop functionality thanks to electronized print?
The CTP can determine and implement a programme to evaluate the potential technical solutions, tailoring it to your specifications.

Content of services

The CTP evaluates the requirement and determines the objective to be reached. It proposes the programme of evaluations and the resources to be implemented to achieve the requested functionalities:

  • Choice of the printing process and conditions to be set up: screen, flexography, inkjet, hybrid, etc.
  • Choice of inks: conductive ink, resistive ink, or specific inks for creating electroluminescent
    surfaces.
  • Definition of graphics to be printed
  • Creation of laboratory prototypes
The CTP will take charge of supplying the specific and functional inks required to implement the evaluation programme.

Delivrables

  • Printed samples corresponding to the client’s objectives.
  • Characterisation of performance levels specific to printed electronics.
  • Testing of simulations depending on the application: Electromagnetic filtering, RFID reading distance, etc.
  • A report on the conditions of implementation, depending on the case.
