Palme d’Or for the « 3D Stick » CTP's sensor

An innovation price for CTP

The CTP was awarded at the 67th ATIP Conference lastly hold in Grenoble on October 28 – 30rd. Our research centre presented two files to a panel of judges composed of ten corporations specialising in papermaking: A3ple and 3D-Stick.

Palme d’Or for the 3D-Stick sensor: « A breakthrough to characterise the stickies in three dimensions! »

This new trophy will be added to the other awards received by the CTP over the past years for its innovative projects: Wave, Métapapier, Decarte, etc…. and once again it highlighted the capacity of its expert teams for creating and innovating!

To note that this novel device will be marketed very soon by our subsidiary TECHPAP.

Happy New Year

"Hand in hand... to shape tomorrow's paper ..."
The Centre Technique du Papier wish you a happy new year and best wishes for 2014 ...

The 2012 Annual Report of the CTP is here!

55 years of innovation, 55 creativity brands!

We firstly wanted to mark our 55 years of activity in honoring our employees at the heart of our projects! In recent years, the CTP has definitely turned his future towards innovation ... largely guided by the expression of the needs of our customers and industry partners. This creative effort does not exempt us to always be present with them on the sites of production… to meet the demands of everyday needs. We therefore chose to collect their stories to evoke the essential role of a Technical Centre, creating value from the idea to the project and its industrial application. Of course, this annual publication contains the key figures and events that have shelled the year. You will also find the presentation of the new structure of the General Research Programme of the CTP, a direct link with the challenges of our customers!

A new HDR...

Mr Michel Petit-Conil, coordinator of the InTechFibres partnership, has defended on April 18th 2013 in the CTP’s amphitheater its capacitation to conduct researches (a French University diploma to manage PhD works) from University of Grenoble. He has brilliantly been admitted with the jury’s acknowledgements. This diploma is going to confirm an already recognized career. After an Engineer diploma in 1983, a working period in tissue production and R&D, he entered CTP as a scientist to develop the research activity in the field of high-yield pulps.  His skills were opened to the chemical pulps and since 2006, he is managing the coordination of the InTechFibres partnership between CTP (French Pulp and Paper Institute) and FCBA (French technological institute for forest-based and furniture sectors). Michel is insuring management and direction of research teams in the frame of these very well-known institutes: CTP and FCBA. This new qualification has allowed him to synthetize all the work done during the years devoted to research, opening new perspectives for the upgrading of lignocellulosic materials such as wood and to be recognized by the academic research world.

European Workshop CTP – PTS - March 27-28, 2013

A special preface for the CTP 2010 Annual Report!

Erik Orsenna
Writer and economist.
Member of the Académie Française

" I remember meeting a man in Montreal last February. The chairman of the Canadian forestry industry federation (and therefore a man of authority), he was speaking to local papermakers. They were anxious: what was to become of them with the crisis facing the newspaper industry? He spoke to them at length about trees. He said that they were under-used treasures. He said that trees could give more, much more than at present. He said it was just a question of asking, and to ask them, we had to get to know them better. In a word, he announced a fantastic biomass research programme.  I am pleased – and hardly surprised – to see that Grenoble is not to be outdone. I have been working for more than a year now on a book on paper, forests, recycling, the circular economy, etc. I am convinced, on the basis of the many contacts and trips I have made recently, that green carbon is one of the most promising new frontiers. And most necessary. And I am also certain, on the basis of my experience, that Grenoble will be the primary driving force for progress in Europe in this field. Take a careful look at this visionary report from the CTP. It is a passport to a future that is not only dynamic but also more effectively controlled. "

New: an anti-Wi-Fi/GSM wallpaper!

Wish to insulate your home or your company from GSM or WI-FI waves? Here is the solution! A team from the Centre Technique du Papier developed the METAPAPER, a wallpaper whose patented patterns, printed with a conductive ink, specifically filter the frequencies such as 0.9, 1.8 and 2.1 GHz (GSM) or 2.45 and 5.5 GHz (Wi-Fi). Metapaper is a printed electronic application sprang from CTP research and partners’, IMEP-LAHC laboratories, LCIS and from the collaboration of Ahlstrom industry. This wallpaper – which can be an under-layer to recover – is the solution to attenuate strongly the undesired electromagnetic wavelengths, it lets other waves pass through such as those of the FM radio or TV. It can be integrated into plaster-board, wood or into floor-covering. Generally used as wall-covering it enables to protect a public space (meeting rooms, cinemas and theatres, hospitals, restaurants, children’s bedrooms, etc.). The IMEP-LAHC anechoid chamber enabled to measure its efficiency within the development project framework in which Ahlstrom is partner.
