Work together to be better!
The Centre Technique du Papier has participated as every 18 months to an ISO OPAL (Optical Properties Authorized Laboratory) meeting under the responsibility of the Chairperson of ISO TC 6 (Technical Committee on paper, pulp and paperboard) and the convenor of ISO/TC6/WG3 (Working Group on optical properties). This year, discussions were held on October 11 and 12 at FP Innovations, in Pointe Claire, Canada. The CTP and its 4 colleagues , FPInnovations (

“The Latest Advances in The Paper Material”. From the infinitely small to its improved and functionalised fibre structure, paper is evolving, even metamorphosing.
It’s around the will to “conceive the inconceivable” that the CTP has written its Report… Key figures and 2011 events are presented as well as the major orientations of the new 2012-2015 Performance Contract and, of course, the R&D projects of our experts who are rethinking a millenary commodity, turning it into the material of excellence for generations to come.
Leave the restrictions of the past!
A new workshop organized by Centre Technique du Papier (France) in collaboration with PTS (
"Water friendly chemistry for papermaking..." which take place on March 27-28,
The Call for papers covers:
* Methods to predict and identify detrimental effects of papermaking chemicals on wastewater treatment processes
* Experiences for minimising the impact of additives on wastewater treatment
* Development of water friendly papermaking additives
* Reduction of priority substances in pulp and papermaking effluents
* Round table discussion

What's NaMiCell?
NaMiCell is a Pilot platform allowing to study how to produce micro/nano fibrils of cellulose from lignocellulosic materials and to produce batches of MFC/NFC for your own evaluation....
· What are micro/nano fibrils of cellulose?
· What applications can be considered?
· Is this technology mature for industrial up scaling?
Pulp producers, papermakers, converters, printers, panelboard producers, wood product manufacturers, wood painting and preservative producers, R&D managers, project leaders and scientists, you are invited to:
- Discover the basics of Micro/Nano celluloses thanks to lectures;
- Figure out the up scaling of the technology thanks to demonstration;
- Exchange with speakers and attendees.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year... All the CTP's Teams wish you a very good year for 2012 and remains to listen to your needs...

The CTP, coordinator of FlexPakRenew European Project organise, with his partners Ahlstrom, Grenoble INP Pagora and the Fraunhofer IVV, a Workshop, May 10th, 2011 at NH Hoteles – Lyon Airport – Terminal 1
.
FlexPakRenew is a small and medium-scale focused collaborative research project, financed by European Commission under the FP7 Framework program addressing the main work programme topic: Renewable materials for functional packaging applications.
The 10 partners, laboratories and industrials will be together to present the Innovation in fibre based flexible packaging combining water based barrier coatings, antimicrobial coatings, nanotechnology and life cycle analysis.This workshop is the only forum where the most prominent findings from FlexPakRenew will be presented for the first time. Whether you are researcher in the field of barrier coating or brand owner, packaging buyer, packaging converter, paper & board manufacturer or retailer of packaged goods, this conference is a unique opportunity to get up – to – date information about paper based flexible packaging and to engage with top scientists in this field.

The Centre Technique du Papier organizes on 16 and 17 March 2011 in Grenoble two days' chromatogeny (16 French and 17 English) in partnership with TekLiCell, BT3 Technologies, Allimand, CNRS-CERMAV and labs LGC & ENSIACET . The chromatogeny is a special technology "Clean-Tech", invented by the CNRS for the implementation of barrier materials biosourced of tomorrow. Developed at industrial level by CTP and BT3 Technologies, this patented technology, is suitable lignocellulosic materials in general and in particular to papers & boards. The main objectives of this day will be:
* understand the potential and limits of chromatogeny,
* see the results on paper and board,
* explore the potential of the pilot machine,
* develop the technico-economic data which put an investment,
* exchange with key stakeholders and partners in this new technology.

In May 2009, Jean-Yves Rigault, was nominated co-ordinator of TekLiCell, the technological platform recently born of the alliance
between Grenoble INP, Grenoble INP-Pagora and the Centre Technique du Papier.
Jean-Yves Rigault is convinced indeed: « The two themes accepted by TekLiCell – Intelligent Paper and Future Printing– Biomaterials, Bioenergy and Bioprocesses – are in the very core of innovation: of cardinal importance for the industry’s future! The platform, born of a strong will to partnership, is a fantastic bridge between research and industry »
During the International Mechanical Pulping Conference (IMPC) held on May 31st – June 4th in Sundsvall (Sweden), Liliane Savoye, a Ph.D. student at Centre Technique du Papier made an outstanding presentation, whose title was "Reduction of the environmental impact of TMP alkaline peroxide
bleaching", on the results of her first year of Ph.D. (Ecobleach project).
