March 18–19, 2008: 5th CTP-PTS Packaging Paper and Board Recycling Symposium |
CTP and PTS are accustomed to organising the Recycling Symposium together and have done so for many years. This event is well known worldwide as top technical level symposium in the area of recycling. They are also successful in terms of exchanges: research results and industrial experiences are presented and interesting debates involving research scientists, papermakers and suppliers, inevitably follow.
The necessity to recycle, the increasing use of recycled fibres, the monitoring of raw materials, the closure of water circuits as well as the development and use of additives by the converting industry all detrimental to recycling, have created new problems in operating conditions. Meanwhile, demands from customers and legislation are escalating quality requirements for food-contact papers. Papermakers today confront the challenge of cost-effective recycling technology improvement.
This 2 day symposium will provide an opportunity for papermakers to meet research scientists and specialists from related industries. The sessions of the technical programme will be include papers from following topics:
·Recovered papers and boards – market, statistics and trends
·Quality control & mechanical properties
·Sustainable development and biorefinery
·Traitment process

He succeeds to Mr Jacques STURM leaving for new functions at FCBA* (Afocel-Ctba merger) before a well-deserved retirement! The five years spent at the head of CTP allowed him to inspire the Centre with a new dynamic regarding the “customer relationship “. This impetus has reinforced the international position of the Centre and consolidated its supporting activities to the industrial sites established in France, despite an economic context often disrupted!

Paper is life... |
Yes, Paper is indeed the Forest's best friend. Thinning and sawmill trimmings are the main raw material sources for paper manufacturing. The first are good for the health and development of the forest and the second upgrades wood waste. It is worth noting that about 60% of the raw materials used in papermaking come from recovered paper and board, which contributes to the cleanliness of cities through recycling. The French Papermaking Industry is launching a national communication campaign in order to end a rumour of preconceived ideas.
Sorry for using French language only… and use your favourite dictionaries!
